October 5, 2001 - Sao Paulo,Brazil (Via Funchal)

From Osmar José Zilio Junior:
I saw the best show of the world in Sao Paulo - Brazil, Oct 5º. It's incredible how the show improves year after year. I saw the shows in 1996 and 1998 too. All the band is great and I can't believe, Yngwie played "Hiroshima Mon Amour" and in the Acoustic Solo he played the first part of "Dreaming", and who sang? All the crazy people. I saw the Yngwie's proud face after this song. Pure emotion. And, believe or not, more than 2:30 hours of show. I love his music. Yngwie forever!

From Marcus Garrett:
The Sao Paulo concert was great! Fantastic! I already have attended to 2 Brazilian concerts and this was the 3rd. It was a great pleasure and an honor to me! I have sent you 2 attached images on Brazilian stuff! A scan of the concert ticket and a scan of a newspaper note! The newspaper guys are comparing Yngwie to Michael Schumacker (Formula 1 racing driver), because of the speed; you know! ;-) Enjoy! Take care, Marcus

From Lucas Santana:
Yeeeessssss!!!! A all concert of Yngwie's Music!! and that's all ... no problem at the show! and it was amazing!!! I couldn't believe in what I was seeing and hearing!! The guitar was loud!!! very loud!!! I was putted into the ground in each bend hahahaha marvelous!!! Derek was very amazing too (playing with the brazilian soccer team shirt) in his solo and duets ... pretty crazy sound!! And I'm sure ... judging by the public scream and react that they love it too!! Double 0 Seven White was pretty nice on vocals too .... 100% all the concert .. since the first song until the last!! great!! Mick and Patrik did their solos and it was very cool too ...... for the first time in 3 concerts (porto alegre, curitiba, and sao paulo) I could listen to the bass solo! The sound was great!! And I think that Yngwie get mad with me again asking for Fire And Ice hehehe :P

Here's the set list... if I remember it well: Intro - Rising force - Crucify - Instrumental Section - Far Beyond the Sun - Preludium - Wild One - Miracle of Life - Bad Reputation - Trilogy Suite Op.5 - Red House - J.S.Bach's Badinerie from BWV.1069 - Keyboard Solo (J.S.Bach's Prelude from BWV.847 - Brazilian national Anthem, Albéniz's "Asturias" - Lines in the Sand intro) - Bass solo - Drum solo - Yngwie introduces the band - You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget - Masquerade - The Seventh Sign - Acoustic solo (AMAZING! I love it!) - Black Star - Mistreated - Hiroshima Mon Amour - I'll See the Light Tonight ... somthing like that ;) Take Care, Lucas Santana

October 4, 2001 (Curitiba, Brazil )

From Bianca Gerent:
The concert was f*** great!!!! October 4th's night was the best night of my life. The gate was opened around 9pm. Some minutes later, after I got the best place to see the concert, the band arrived and they said we had to get out of there and go to another place so that the band could make the last sound check. Of course, someone else took my place. Luckly, I got it again, but after the concert had started. Getting the best place I got some bruises, but it was worth while. The first song was Rising Force, then Crucify, Far Beyond the Sun. Preludium was the next one,but they didn't play it, Yngwie asked a guy to play the cd. After this one was Yngwie's song, Wild One. I don't remember exactly during what song, but Yngwie gave me a pick, I mean, he put the pick on my hand, that was fantastic! The thrill of my life! In the middle of the concert, Derek played the Brazil's official anthem. Everyone applauded him. On the acoustic solo before Black Star, Yngwie played the most beautiful song ever, Dreaming. Yngwie played a little part of Woman from Tokyo. After playing Hiroshima Mon Amour, he played Mistreated. The solo was so long that I thought Yngwie had forgotten the song. The concert was amazing! Yngwie's band is fantastic! He needs to come back soon to Brazil! We really love him! I need to thanx the whole band and the staff for all the kindness. "That bottle of water saved my life".

From André Luiz Janz:
The show played yesterday in Curitiba was very different from Porto Alegre. First, Derek have entered with the Brazilian soccer team shirt. The band and the fans was 100%. They have played the same set list played in Porto Alegre and before they play "You don´t remember...", Derek played the Brazilian national anthem. We don´t have any kind of problems here. In the "Miracle of Life", Malmsteen was surprised with everybody singing with the band. Doogie White was excellent (i think Yngwie must make his next work with him). In the end of the show, Doogie put on the Brazilian soccer team shirt too. Thanks!

From Lucas Santana:
"Hi there!! well ... I'm happy ... very happy!! I've just watched the best show ever! Since the last concert two days ago in Porto Alegre I was hoping to see a different reaction of the public here in Curitiba ... and it was ok ... I think that to avoid those stupid reactions again Yngwie did not play the USA national anthem here in Curitiba ... and I don't think that he's going to play tomorrow in Sao Paulo .. well that's something that I can answer in a few hours when I get there ... but let's talk about the good part! The Concert!! Yngwie is a crazy person, hehehe - I don't know how he can run and play like that all the concert!! what energy!! really cool!! Doogie's voice was loud too!! he sang all the songs almost perfectly!! I was eager to see Derek today .. but after his workshop yesterday I could bet that he was about to make a great concert .. and he did!! That's the guy to play on Yngwie's band!! I'm sorry to all the other keyboarders but .. Derek is just perfect there! The only thing I couldn't hear from where I was , was the bass ://, I'm sure it was great but I couldn't listen! The drum was loud! hehehe pretty heavy style of Patrik! ok ... here goes the set list .. I think .. Intro - Rising force - Crucify - Instrumental Section - Far Beyond the Sun - Preludium - Wild One - Miracle of Life - Bad Reputation - Trilogy Suite Op.5 - Red House - Keyboard Solo - Bass solo - Drum solo - Yngwie introduces the band - You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget - Masquerade - The Seventh Sign - Acoustic solo - Black Star - Mistreated - Hiroshima Mon Amour - I'll See the Light Tonight. Sorry if I made a mistake somewhere .. but I'm really tired and got to go to bed before getting the plane to Sao Paulo for the concert tomorrow. Take Care, Lucas Santana

October 2, 2001 (Porto Alegre, Brazil - Opinião)

From Lucas Haas:
Hey Yngwie! I'm from Brazil, from Porto Alegre and I was at your last concert here, day 02/09. I just wanna say i'm really sorry about what happened here, when you were playng the USA national anthem, especially for Derek Sherinian, because he is American. I wasn't booing you, but i'm really sad that some persons did that, and i'm shure that they are too. I just wanna ask you to come back here in Porto Alegre, and please don't be sad just because some ignorant persons were booing you. I'm sorry for all this and please come back!!!!!! Your big fan, Lucas Haas

From Derek Sherinian:
This is Derek's revised response to the audience boos that resulted when Yngwie included the U.S. national anthem in his extended guitar solo. http://www.dereksherinian.com/whatsnew.html

From Mark M. Correa:
I'm writing from Porto Alegre, Brazil, and have some words to say about what, IMHO, was a big misunderstandment during the Yngwie Malmsteen show at the Opiniao Theater, 10/3.

I had the amazing experience of seeing Yngwie live in the city where i live for the first time, and indeed a great deception too. I really love Yngwie, I have all of his albums and 5 videos, I'm a great fan since 1988. I also love Derek, and Doogie White is one of the best singers out there. What a great band!!! Doogie's performance was amazing, he is a true professional, pushed the crowd, he moved all the time, great stage presence, you can even think that he is a long-time singer at Yngwie's band, despite of all problems that happened.

I thought it was meant to be a unforgettable night when the maestro entered playing extremely fast and furious shred/neoclassical lead introducing to the song Rising Force, followed by amazing bluesy solo, then Bedroom Eyes. Well, the night was one of the best concerts I had in my life until Yngwie's guitar solo - I nearly cried listening to the Icarus' Dream Adagio - and then the Star Spangled Banner started... People then patriotically (that's the way I see it) started yelling Brazil, Brazil!! boo!... that's when the misunderstanding also started.

I was born in the US, I love the US, and I have a well-formed and clear opinion on what happened. The fact is that the people here are very politicized, proud and tired against the oppressive, imperialist policy adopted by the US during many long years in their relationship with South and Central America, etc.

When Yngwie started playing the Star Spangle Banner, most of the people there were surprised. Why he didn't play the Brazilian anthem instead? People didn't understood the relationship between the Swedish Yngwie, (who by the way wrote an album named War to End All Wars) and what happened in the WTC and Pentagon. I'm aware that Yngwie played the US anthem for many years, that it was a rendition for the people who died, but most of the people there took that as a confrontation; then Yngwie tried to play the anthem 5 times (I counted), so what's the point? Why insist on that way? It didn't work at the first time, he made an ironic laughing in the second time and third times while playing You Don't Remember. Derek was extremely pissed off, people took that way too irresponsable and inconsequentially as a threatening and started ironically blaming "Bin Laden", just provocating Yngwie, that's it.

They're just boys, they were drunk, it was just a part of the crowd, a minority that some ingenuous, fools followed, whatever. If you're a serious artist, you should never threat an audience who has payed to see you and supports your music. It can happen in the heat of the moment, but that is irresponsable too. Yngwie was someway unpolite with the people there. As an icon, a superstar, a nearly guitar god, he should be the example, not to take that personally. I was expecting to see Yngwie playing I'll See The Light Tonight, he started some chords, then that anthem thing started all over... in the middle of boos and applauses, the band left and the show ended.

The most important message is that we DON'T SUPPORT Bin Laden BY ANY MEANS, neither any terrorism acts, whatever could be the reason. We're very sorry for all the people who died and their families. I was shocked when I knew and saw images from the tragedy, a great loss for mankind, and that Brazil is side to side with USA against terrorism. WE LOVE YNGWIE MALMSTEEN!! Brazil and Porto Alegre loves Malmsteen! The brazilians are amongst the most peaceful people on earth. We want this madness to stop, stop terrorism!!! Peace. Sincerely, best regards and respect, Mark M. Correa. Long Live Yngwie Malmsteen!!!!

From Cássio:
Hi there people. You can imagine why I am sending this message. First, I am Brazilian and I know what happened at Porto Alegre. What a shame that some idiots (I know that most of the fans at the gig were not doing the boos) started making the noise and throwing things at the band. The guys who made the fight were possbly drunk and I believe that they didn't know that U.S.A's anthem is being played by various bands (Ray Conniff at Curitiba, for example) as a message of respect and condolencies for the Americans who died on the WTC attack on Sep 11th. I think that music is a way for people to escape from their problems. Not to create problems. That's all. Good luck for the Americans. I hope you recover from this tragedy. Best Wishes, Cássio

From Felipe Vargas Alves:
We were at the show and we didn't like what happend and we want apoligiese in the name of these people. The majority of the people were drunk, they wanted to make fun of you, I know it wasn't serious and we are shamed. We just want you to know that it wasn't everbody i am your biggest fan in Porto Allegre. I hope you read this E-Mail. Thank you and God bless America and Yngwie Malmsteen...

From Fernando Fachin:
First of all, I wonder if Yngwie was expecting an applause to Star Spangled Banner. He tried to play it once and got a negative response. Then during the show he tried to play it again and again. Near the end of the show he said: If you boo Star Spangled Banner I won't play anymore. Maybe he should remember that we payed to see him playing his songs, not Star Spangled Banner and that we speak Portuguese in Brazil; some most people didn't understand a word when he said that. I don't know why he insisted so much playing it, maybe he can tell us. The first time he played it, people started shouting "Brazil" and boo him. People started to shout Bin Laden when he tried to play it for the fourth time or something. People boo'd him in a spirit of jest, demonstrating that they didn't want to listen to that. People here are kind of tired of this whole USA thing. It's not like we support terrorists. Rock fans are passionate and have the most distinct reactions just for fun, not even measuring the consequences, and some people were drunk or stoned. The artist has the right to express his ideas the way he wants and the audience can react the way they want. There is no right or wrong. It wasn't a political or idealogical manifestaion whatsoever. We bought our tickets and he made money in Porto Alegre and the audience does have the right to boo if doesn't like what he's doing. If you don't wanna take the risk of being boo'd maybe you shouldn't play live concerts at all anymore. It's not true that people threw shit at him, it wasn't an agressive reaction, just one guy threw a pick back on him. I didn't like the way Derek dissed Porto Alegre, but I understand that he was carried by the emotion of the moment. I appreciated that he apologized. I was hoping that Yngwie would play more songs from the first 3 solo albums, like Queen in Love, Liar etc. But he played a lot from the new one (which I hadn't listened to before) and it sounded pretty much like the other ones anyway. Peace.

From ANDRÉ CONTI SILVA:
Hi Yngwie! I was at your show last night at the Opinião, in Porto Alegre. And I feel really bad about what happened. It's a shame that some people can't understand what is going on around them. But I will explain some things about Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul.

Here in Brazil we have many different political divisions and our state is governed by one of the extreme left divisions, the PT. And the majority of the people who lives in Porto Alegre agrees with this division. The problem is that they are naturally against the United States and all that is related to it. It doesn't matter to them how many people has died at the World Trade Center, they think that the U.S. deserves it. They blame the U.S. and the federal government for our social problems.

There is another problem. We have more people who speak German than speak English as second language, because of the history of our state. The Germans were the first ones to get here two hundred years ago. So, I can assure you that around 80 % of the crowd there didn't understand what you said when you asked those two questions.

I am trying to apologise to you and your crew, in the name of the mature people who was watching the show. The ones who respect your love for America. The ones who listen to Hendrix, Kiss and Yngwie Malmsteen playing Star Spangled Banner live and enjoy it. The ones who support the United States in this painful moment. In dispite of this, from Rising Force to Black Star, War to End All Wars was one the best shows I ever watched. --ANDRÉ CONTI SILVA--

From Lucas:
I want to express my feelings to Yngwie and specially Derek for what happen in Porto Alegre last night! I don't live in Porto Alegre .. I live in Brasília, about 1600 miles far from it but I'm travelling all over Brazil to watch all the 3 concerts here (Porto Alegre, Curitiba, and Sao Paulo)... and I'm very disappointed with the public there in Porto Alegre :/ .. I'm on a hotel room , just about to leave for Derek's work shop here in Curitiba , and for the Concert tomorrow ... and I hope that the public react as humam beings .. and not like anarchists .. I apologize for those people who did that, and they don't talk for all the public there! Me for example.

Let's talk about the concert ... which was amazing before the incident ... Doogie was really great there ... really constant in all songs ... very firm ... I really loved Derek's solo ... specially there little part of "Lines in the Sand" ;) ... Mike and Patric made they parts very well ... and very heavy too !! they almost put the place down in "Crucify"! hehehe - and Yngwie ... well .. just amazing!! I'm glad to leave my home to see all the concerts of the Brazilian tour .. I think that he got mad with me for lot's of "ahhhhhhh fire and ice!! fire and ice" screams hehehe, but ... let's wait for another time :P
Take Care, Lucas

From Bianca:
Yesterday, Yngwie played a concert in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In the end of his concert, he played the anthem of USA. People didn't like and started hooting at him. Let me explain to you why they did it. Some people from the south of Brazil don't like USA and they think USA just exploit Brazil. In my point of view, Yngwie played the anthem of USA in honor of those guys who died in those terrorisms attacks and were from Brazil. I think it is a beautiful attitude and I am sure those guys didn't understand it. I'd like Yngwie forgive them and understand that few Brazilians think like that way. Please, don't make that event damage the next two concerts that are coming.

From Rodrigo Campagnolo:
First of all, I'd like to apologize for the behavior of the people in Porto Alegre. I traveled several hours by bus to see Yngwie, my first influence on the guitar, and I was shocked!!! I could not believe in my ears, hearing all those "boos" for the American anthem... I'm really really sorry, and I'm sure I'm speaking for all the fans who stand and clap their hands for your patriotism. I also like to say... Derek, I'm sorry if your spirit was gone that night, but I stayed there 'till the very end, and no one threw things on stage or cause any damage to the equipment. I was so excited 'cause I was going to see Derek Sherinian AND Yngwie on the same stage!!!!!!!!! Once again, I say sorry. As a musician who lives here in Brazil, I feel terrible. I hope the rest of the tour went great. There is nothing I can say but SORRY!!! God bless America!!!

From Arthur Alvim:
hi, i am great fan of Yngwie and i saw the show at porto alegre (brazil) last night. First of all, i must say a feel very sorry for what happenned at the audience. Their behavior was stupid and i got very surprised for the fact the band didn't leave the show at that time. The band was extremely professional (and I know that they don't have to cope with this kind of behavior). I thank you very much for the show , feeling very sorry for the impression these punks gave to you. Maybe yngwie will never be back to porto alegre (and he shouldn't, because his real fans , including me, would go anywhere to see the show) , and i know these people here don't deserve another chance. They are stupid, they don't have any love for their country or for themselves - that's one of the things that puts my country into this poor mental condition. I hope you don't be sad with this. Many fans felt sorry and we will continue to love your work, no matter that we have to live with this kind of people. Please answer, cause we almost had a fight with these people at the show! Your fan, Arthur

From Maurizio Tombini:
I was in the Porto Alegre gig. I'm very sad with all that happened. I want to say that i wasn't among those who "booed" the star spangled banner. But look, Mr., I did not buy the ticket to see American war propaganda. Here in South America (yes, mr., we have two Americas, and they're VERY different) we've been living with the uncle sam boots on our faces for too long. We'll fight terrorism, not for the USA, but for all mankind. Your keyboard man said that we have started a riot and throwed shit on stage, which is NOT TRUE. He said that we live in a peasant infested city. You know they use to call europeans "eurothrash". But, in the end, I'm sorry for all of us. A single night turned 15 years of devotion to your music into dust. I hope we can clear our hearts of all that hate.

September 29, 2001 (Bogotá, Colombia)

From C. Romero From Bogotá Colombia:
Mr. Malsteen spent with us a couple of days, on friday, a guitar lesson, at the band´s hotel, where the some band members ( Dereck, and Patrick), talked with us and did some photo-session. Dereck was a very kind gentleman, who talked with us and made some jokes, the girls said he´s a smart and gentle man. Yngwie, about the 9:15 pm started his clinic lesson with some samples from his best-fast as hell solos and also answered some questions from us. Yngwie seemed to be a very talkable man, and I know everytime he`s playing his strat, he have a lot of fun with it. Next day, about 7:30 pm the lights went down and then the intro from Rising Force began. We all went crazy when in the middle of the smoke, Yngwie started to move his fingers and showed us how to play guitar and how to be a show man himself.. Crucify, Catch 22, Miracle of Life, Preludium, Far Beyond the Sun, You Don´t Remember I´ll Never Forget, Trilogy Suit opus, Red House blues, Black Star, Bad Reputation, Hiroshima Mon Amour, I`ll See the Light Tonight and Seventh Sign, as far as I remmember, were the list, which sounded better than the cd´s.

All the band members did their own solos, with a lot of response from the people, the keyboards was awesome, the bass was crazy, and the drums were fantastic, people were crazy with the extended acoustic solo from Yngwie, and Badiniere, was really awesome to see the Maestro playing the acoustic guitar as fast as his beautiful strat. But the best happened when yngwie started to play and sing the Red House blues, with a lot of passion in it, we were all crazy . We all screamed and thank Yngwie for his awesome show. Thanx Maestro. This is the best show in my life. We really hope for you to come again. !!!!!!

From Alfredo A. Moreno:
I want to thank Yngwie and the band members for the amazing concert in Bogotá. I thought ¨Live in leningrad¨ was the best, but I was wrong, now that I finally had the chance to watch him play, I realized The Maestro is now playing better than ever. On stage Yngwie gave his all, it pleased me so much. I attended the concert with a friend, who is also a big Yngwie´s fan. We traveled 450 km by car to see him. At the concert, we wanted to catch an autographed pick, then my friend got lucky and he could get one. I was happy and excited about it but at the same time I felt a little bit sad because the concert was getting over and I really wanted to get my own pick. Suddenly something unbelievable happened Yngwie threw a pick toward me so I immediately started looking for it, first I searched on the floor but it wasn´t there so I thought somebody got it. Then I touched the pocket of my shirt and I felt something was there - I thought it was a coin but it was actually the pick I was looking for. This pick was thrown by Yngwie and it fell into my pocket, it was a magical moment. I won´t ever forget that day. It will be always in my mind and in my heart. Yngwie was incredible, the concert couldn´t have been better. Me and my friend are looking forward to see him again someday. We hope he comes back. THANK YOU SO MUCH MAESTRO, WE LOVE YOUR MUSIC. Yours sincerely, Alfredo A. Moreno C.

The second show in Santiago was as good or even better than the first night, the crowd was more quiet, but all was great and Yngwie showing why he is a Maestro, well I think one of the great surprises of this night was to hear "Fugue" , from the Concerto Suite, I saw the other musician of the band watching the Maestro playing this, and at the end of the piece they were cheering just like all the people in the Teatro Providencia. Derek Sherinian always playing great and when Yngwie look him he had a smile or a funny face. Mick did a better solo than the last night and playing all the songs very well. Patrik put the force behind his drum and lot of heavy double bass drum.

I think both nights "You Don’t Remember I’ll Never Forget " was a high point in the set list, everyone loves very much that song , another song from Deep Purple to end the show, "Highway Star", and Doogie sang and moved the people with energy and fury - and I guess this band could be great to record a new album for Yngwie, 'cus they are great musicians and seem to enjoy the music. I hope we’ll see Yngwie soon again, it would be great if, in the future, he’ll bring us the Concerto Suite live, or rock shows like this two great nights, thanx Yngwie!!!!

From Rodrigo Garcia:
We got early to Teatro Providencia. Before even we entered the theater, we heard "Crucify" very distantly...so the concert began before everyone was inside the venue....bad organization!!!! Inside there was crazy!! What can i say...Yngwie played perfectly, did a great show not only with his music, but showing his skills as a showman. Malmsteen said: "Chilean crowd has been the best since the start of the tour"...so we are very proud. In a few hours we'll go to a second concert (formerly a clinic) so i'll send a second review.

From Alvaro Paredes:
Finally, the one and only Yngwie here in Santiago of Chile, wow! It's still hard to believe what I saw and heard, tonight Sept 25, well, the venue Teatro Providencia was sold out, and the show was great, Yngwie played with a lot of passion every note and I guess he was happy too; the general sound could have been better, but anyway the guitar sound was very good. Doogie sang very well, even hard to sing songs like Horoshima Mon Amour. Derek did a great solo and looked relaxed, Mike and Patrik did a great job too; the set list was like what we expected but after Horoshima, the surprise! I’m a fan of Deep Purple and the people too, so when Yngwie started to play the first notes of Mistreated, everyone was in ecstasy, and Yngwie looked surprised with the crowd singing so loud. After that, the final song I’ll See the Light Tonight, and all the people were very happy, and of course other people was there to see carefully the playing of the Maestro, a great night!! Heavy Metal played Loud!! Alvaro Paredes

September 23, 2001 (Buenos Aires, Argentina - El Teatro)

MARIANO & SEBASTIAN From Buenos Aires:
As Yngwie fans we were outstanded to see Yngwie live! Of course it was an emotional moment because it was the first time we saw HIM perform. There are only GOOD THINGS to say about SEEING HIM LIVE, and being part of that kind of Musical event. But there was something with the SET LIST. We would have spected more about that. We really enjoyed "Rising Force", "You Don't Remember..." and "Seventh Sign"... But there were a lot of "classics" missing... "Heaven Tonight", "Liar", "I am a Viking", "I'll see the Light Tonight", "Never Die"... Songs we always wanted to see in a show. By the way, Dooguie was great. "Hiroshima" was incredible. And the whole new band sounded great. The new album songs sounded really good too. Of course we WANT MORE from Yngwie. We are already waiting for new things to come. And waiting for his return to Buenos Aires. SET-LIST OF OUR DREAMS 1. Rising Force 2. Crucify 3. Bad Reputation 4. Bedroom Eyes 5. Far Beyond the Sun 6. Miracle of Life 7. Wild One 8. Seventh Sign 9. Guitar Solo (Trilogy Suite, Crying, Brothers...) 10. You Don't Remember... 11. Masquerade 12. Liar 13. Heaven Tonight / Never Die 14. Black Star 15. I'll See the Light Tonight

From Marco:
hi, i am Marco from Buenos Aires. sorry for my late letter... u know i think the show was great... i thought were less songs that Malmsteen played.. but anyway... i had a great moment... seeing Malmsteen on stage(was my first concert of Malmsteen) and was much better cuz i got a pic of Malmsteen that he played for "HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR"...i think was the only pic that he drop in that song... well i hope Malmsteen come again to Argentina... cya and AGUANTE MALMSTEEN....

From Marcelo:
It was really great to see Yngwie again in this country. The show was excellent: Doogie is a great singer and the version or "Hirosima Mon Amour" sound perfectly. "The Maestro of the Maestros" played his Fender like the same Lucifer: "Far Beyond The Sun" is the anthem of Classic Metal. Thanks Yngwie for playing with your passion and feeling this wonderfull symphonies of metal. You with your "Bad Reputation", and the people that say you are a "Wild One". NO, is a "Miracle of Life" that "You don't Remember" Argentina. We see you as soon as possible. Marcelo "The Wizard" Bazo, from Argentina.

Set List 23/9/01: Rising Force - Crucify - The Wizard - Inst/Far Beyond the Sun - Wild One - Miracle of Life - Bad Reputation - Solo/ Trilogy Suite/Red House/Solo - You don't Remember... - Seventh Sign - Acoustic Solo - Black Star - Hiroshima Mon Amour

From Cristian:
I am from Argentina, I'am Cristian with 15 years old. I was in "El Teatro" and the show was great! The only albums that I have heard was "Trilogy", "Seventh Sign", "Magnum Opus", "Fire And Ice" and "Rising Force" That's all. I don't speak very well English, sorry. I was very impressed. Yngwie no se va!!!! Yngwie no se va!!!! Doogie White, Mick Cervino, Derek Sherinian, and Patrik Johansson - you're the best, yeah!!!

From Nikita:
I saw your performance in Buenos Aires yesterday, it was my first time. Amazing. I was wondering what would be your perfect line up band, if you were able to choose ANY famous musician to play and tour with you? Thank you and Keep Rockin!

From Martin Durante:
I´m from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I do have some comments that I would like to share with you. If´you are familiar with the Yngwie Malmsteen´s world tour 2001, you may also infur what I shall be referring to: Yngwie´s show last night. I am aware of the fact that the band has nothing to do with the snags I will mention below, but I MUST tell it to someone closer to the organisation than me.

Everything started at 9:45, when me, my fiancee and some friends showed up at the place (a slimy hole called El Teatro, a former cinema) some 15 minutes before Yngwie´s performance. Everything was all right until we realized we were not in a show venue, but in a place that can be easily compared to the Bombay metro during the rush hour (darkness, sweat, and bad smell included). After 10 minutes of being there, none of us could still possibly spot the stage (how come?). The place was overcrowded, there was no room for a dwarf to get into.

Moreover, I do believe that US$30 is a price much too high to see just necks, backs and long haired heads, because that was all 30% of the audience was able to see actually. The reason? Quite simple my dear, organizers are always trying to make their living at our expenses, meaning pushing 2000 people in a place with no capacity for more than 1000 souls and by no means prepared to held rock concerts. If the show had been held at a football stadium, it would have been different because of the characteristics of the field. However, if the DIMENSIONS of the venue are similar to those of a tennis court (like El Teatro), people expect to have a slightly better view, don`t they?

Last of all, please let me tell you about the "special effects". There was a "smoke machine" that was turned on several times during the show. The smoke nostrils (I counted 2 of them) were located right below the first floor, making it even more difficult for the people upstairs to see than for the smashed fans below them (pay more, see less, rush before everything is sold out, only in Argentina). On the other hand, YM is not "Korn" nor "Papa Roach", I mean, most of us, including the band I suppose, really wanted to get a good sound, not plain shit. Besides, a great percentage of the audience were musicians, people that do enjoy listening, not teenage headbangers. The place by no means catered for sound quality a band like this deserves.

What I am trying to say with all this is quite simple. Please if you are so kind, let someone from the tour organization know how Argentinean show business pirates cheat fans. This faulty promotion sooner or later will prevent people from attending concerts. They are the only ones that actually got something ($) out of this. Yes, I know this is not the only place where it happens and it wont be the last time either. Shit happens and the only ones to blame are US (yes, because we seem to have learned nothing yet), but I am really upset and somebody has to say something, right? Thanks in advance and best regards. Keep rockin´, Martin

September 22, 2001 (Mexico City - Salon 21)

From Alberto Gandara:
Yngwie: I saw you on Saturday 22 Sept, at Salon 21 México D.F. It was a good concert, the musicians with you are good. Doogie is one of the best singers ever, much better than others that play with you in the past. You should hire him for your next CD. You guys really kicked some asses. We´ve been waiting for a Malmsteen concert since 1985. Thanks! Alberto Gandara

From José Centeno:
Amigo Yngwie: I just came back from México City to Guadalajara (Land of Tequila and Mariachi music) where I live. After 15 years of listening to "Black Star," for the first time I made my dream true because I was able to attend your show in México City this past weekend. I really enjoyed your performance and I want to congratulate you for being able to keep yourself in very good shape and remain being such a great guitar player. After the cancellation I thought I was not going to be able to attend the October date but lucky me to be able to come back to México City one week after. I have been a rocker since lot time ago and now that I have fulfilled one of my dreams, I have another one: to bring you here to Guadalajara!!!. There are a lot of fans of you that were not able to attend the México City show but I'm sure they will attend your show here easily, so please let me know what is the official procedure and I'll be more than happy to find the local organization that supports my dream and I'll be promoting the show devotedly.

From Omar Jacobo:
Last night was the best of my life!!! Yngwie´s concert was the coolest thing i´ve ever seen! When i saw the line outside of the Salon 21 (4 blocks) i started to think that it would be hard to see the entire show but this didn´t happen to me, when i finally enter the place a very well-known guitar started to do some super fast things and when an awesome keyboard sound announces "Rising Force," everybody went crazy!!! Yngwie came out and i was so happy to finally see my idol, Yngwie tells to someone on the sound mixer "you´re dead". The sound gets better after this :) "Crucify" (one of my favorite songs) was played and i couldnt stop thinking that this guitar sound was the best i´ve ever heard on a live concet.

This is a funny band, i mean, all the guys had a smile on their faces (Mick Cervino and Doogie White were so energetic). Next to me, a couple of girls went to tears during "Icarus Dream Suite" and i have to confess... me too. The band´s solos were a nice surprise to me because i really didn´t expect that. Derek Sherinian is awesome!!! He made a classic solo and i wondered why when he was on Dream Theater he never did those things - i think that he sounds better with Yngwie and all the people were blown away during his solo. It was a very, very good solo.

The bass solo was very good too, i like a lot the way Mick plays, he seems to put all his life into his instrument (he still has a nice medieval Blackmore´s Night look). He has everything to be a Yngwie bassist. Drum solo was fine, but i really expected for more, knowing how good Patrik Johansson is. The highlights of the show were the Derek and Yngwie solos, "Rising Force", "Icarus Dream Suite", Trilogy...", "Bedroom Eyes ", "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget" (everybody went so crazy with this one"), "Black Star", "Wild One".

Doogie was awesome!!! The things that he made with Rainbow were cool but last night he made a very special show. Sometimes he sounds a lot like Mark Boals!!! He never miss a thing, even on harder songs like "Seventh Sign" or "Masquerade." The people of Mexico love the way he sings and he was the revelation of the night. Damn! You should hear "Hiroshima Mon Amour"!!! Totally perfect. It seems that Doogie started on 85% and ended on 200%!!!

Finally THE MAESTRO, no words for him. He is so perfect, you know? As Doogie, he started on 85% and ended on 300%! Yngwie looks very happy from the third song to end; when i see his concerts on my VHS, he never looked so relaxed and happy, i guess he wasn´t expecting so great response for the audience - if Yngwie moves a bit, or close an eye, everybody screams so loud!!! Yngwie seems to be very amused with this.

The set list was made thinking of new and old fans and i'm sure that everybody went to his houses very satisfied. Thank you, Yngwie, for the greatest concert of my life... OMAR JACOBO

From Luis Antonio Roseszamora:
WELL, WELL, FIRST OF ALL I HAVE TO SAY THAT YNGWIE IS THE BEST GUITARIST IN THE UNIVERSE... HE TOTALLY KICKS ASS!!!!!!! THE CONCERT IN MEXICO CITY ON 22 SEPTEMBER ...I´LL NEVER FORGET!!!!! THE SOUND WAS REALLY GREAT, WHEN THE OPENING SECTION OF THE FIRST SONG "RISING FORCE" BEGUN, MY BODY WAS FREEZING, AND WHEN THE SILHOUETTE OF THE MAESTRO STARTED TO APPEAR ALL THE AUDENCE STARTED TO JUMP ON GOING CRAZY. "CRUCIFY", "BEDROOM EYES", AND THE CLASSIC "FAR BEYOND THE SUN" WERE MASTERPIECES.

THE NEW MEMBERS REALLY ROCK. DOOGIE WAS REALLY GREAT WITH THE CROWD AND A GREAT FEELING TO SING. YNGWIE WAS REALLY AN ICON OF CLASSIC MELODY ROCK IN HISTORY!!!!!!! "BLACK STAR" WAS AN ANTHEM, "HIROSHIMA" SOUND MASTERFULLY AND A SURPRISE. LEAVING WITH "I´LL SEE THE LIGHT TONIGHT" MADE ME FEEL IN A DIFFERENT DIMENSION!!!!!!!!!! THE SHOW WAS ENTIRELY MASTERFULL. I HOPE YNGWIE COMES TO MEXICO AGAIN......A DAY THAT WILL REMAIN IN MY HEART FOREVER.

SALUTES TO THE MAESTRO OF CLASSIC GUITAR!!!!!!! YNGWIE FUCKIN MALMSTEEN
A LAST NOTE: AS A MATTER OF FACT, I FEEL THE PASSION AND THE POWER OF YNGWIE´S MUSIC YET IN MY EARS OF THAT SATURDAY NIGHT.YEAHHHHH!!!!!!

From Liliana:
*grins* Yay!!! I waited 16 years to see Yngwie playing live and I finally got what I wanted!! Damn, I can't believe my luck. The concert was great, completely amazing! Despite a couple technical thingies our dear Yngwie (gods bless him from head to toes) had to put up with, everything was in good order. The people were quite responsive and our main man spent the whole concert grinning, looking extremely sexy, and tossing picks (and two...TWO!! sweated towels) at the crowd. The band was quite happy as well and it showed. Thanks a lot guys!! I wasn't feeling that well but you sure made my year. So honey, when are you coming back? Am I supposed to wait another 16 years? Liliana

From Angelo Mussinni:
I'm a Fan of Yngwie but I was really disappointed with the Yngwie's sound in the Salon 21, Mexico City. I was expecting that the sound was clean. What happened, Yngwie? When I saw you in NYC (Dec 12, 2000) it happened the same , the sound WAS TERRIBLE. I compare YOUR QUALITY OF THE SOUND WITH the DIO band and I was really Impacted with the quality of DIO. I really felt bad because my favorite guitarist didn't show QUALITY in his SOUND. I'm expecting that you receive this message because YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THE QUALITY OF YOUR SOUND In the concerts. By the way, I'd like to congratulate to DOOGIE WHITE because he sang Hiroshima VERY GOOD. Regards, Angelo

September 20, 2001 (Monterrey - Escena)

From Rodolfo Torres:
I just want to express the way I feel about Yngwie's last night concert in Monterrey, Mexico, at the Escena Bar. It was for too much the best concert I've ever been to!!!!! Yngwie rocked the fricken hall!!! He made us sweat, dance, scream, sing, and even fly with his power guitar magic. He made us cry with "you don't remember...", and sanctified us with "heaven tonight". Another great one was "I'll see the light, tonight" and his live performance of "Black Star" is something I'll never forget!!! Above all this I think "far beyond the sun" was the song that just made it all, it was the best live performance ever done!!! Add all the solos he came up with all the time, and the final result will be "inmortal". Sincerely, Rod

From Julio Garcia:
The concert in Monterrey, was just AMAZING, I hadn´t seen anything like that in my whole life. I´ll be waiting for the Next Time Yngwie comes to Mexico. Seeing Yngwie perfoming live, it´s something I have to repeat some day. The way he play the guitar, the solos, and of course, the rest of the band, everything was just perfect. Songs like Seventh Sign, Bad Reputation, or Crucify, just made people scream and jump, and ask for more. There was just one think I didn´t like, the fuck*ng audience. Doogie White tried to cheer up the public, several times, while people like me were screaming for more. But there were a lot of people who just didn´t move a finger. How I hate them. MONTERREY AUDIENCE SUCKED!!!. (not everyone) I don´t know how is the Audience in Mexico DF, will treat him, I hope Yngwie will find better fans, that in here.
