I traveled 600 miles to see Yngwie on April 15, 1994. It was the best show I've ever seen, an experience I'll never forget. I got autographs from Yngwie, Mats, and Mike, caught a drumstick the size of a policeman's billyclub, and a string the Master ripped off in a guitar-solo fury. Yngwie's band is awesome! --Gregory G., Stevensville, MI, USA I saw the Maestro on March 14, '94, in Osaka Festival Hall. I was in the second row from the stage. Yngwie moved back and forth over and over, all the kids were very happy. A girl behind me held up a cat doll [like Fuzzy?]! Yngwie's playing was very great! He looked like he was having so much fun. I was surprised at Mike playing keyboards in one song. Didn't Yngwie hurt his fingers from the fire or pulling the strings off? I worry about it! I had a wonderful time. Please come back soon again! --Fumiyo H., Osaka, Japan I went to the club [in Phildelphia, PA, USA] for soundcheck at the Seventh Sign tour, but the staff was very rude to me. I tried to meet Yngwie all night, but never did. But as for the show, it was major kick ass! Yngwie and his new band sounded absolutely incredible. And best of all, he seemed really glad to be there. He got really involved with the crowd and I loved that. --Chris F., Telford, PA, USA On April 9, 1994, we ventured out of our safe home and drove to L.A. We wouldn't have gone there for anyone but Yngwie. The new singer is superb. His voice compliments Yngwie's playing very well. It's a strong band. Mats still sounded great and the other new members were SOLID. Yngwie is phenomenal. His flowing style was better than ever. The music poured from his fingers effortlessly. We noticed a new confidence in him--he looked happy and relaxed, and his playing reflected that. It was a masterful performance. --Carole & Ralph,Santee, CA, USA Yngwie rocks San Fran Bay Area!! The show was excellent, I was right in front of the stage. I touched Yngwie's guitar twice, got three picks, I was hit in the head by a string when he ripped them off his guiar, and slapped hands with him. What can I say, it was a night I'll never forget! --Rich T., Hayward, CA, USA The night of March 11, '94 became one of the most unforgettable nights for me in my life. I didn't know Yngwie's music, but I heard "Forever One" on the radio. I had never heard such a beautiful song, so I went to the concert. I was glued to the spot. I thought, "He is a genius." It was my great pleasure to have shared the space and time with him! --Yuka M., Hiroshima, Japan I recently experienced one of the most extreme, uplifting events in my life - I saw my first Yngwie concert! [in Sea Bright, New Jersey, 1992] It felt incredible to be around so many other fans who appreciate such extraordinary talent. So few people ever realize their calling in life; I feel fortunate to have witnessed someone who has not only met his calling, but has taken his art to the highest perfection and surpassed all others. My only regret is not seeing him before now. I am anxiously awaiting his return to relive the unimaginable. --Jennifer G., South Orange, NJ, USA In March, I went to see Yngwie's concerts in Hiroshima, Osaka, and Nagoya for the Fire & Ice tour. Many fans waited for hours in front of the Hall. They couldn't wait to see Yngwie J. Malmsteen!! All the audience got chills up and down their spines when they listened to Yngwie's performance. Very thrilling!! I couldn't take my eyes off Yngwie's fingers throughout his guitar solo. Yngwie's playing was very emotional and passionate. THANK YOU for your great performance in Japan. Yngwie is ICHIBAN (Number One)! --Rika O., Takamatsu, Japan Yngwie: After going to your gig at the Bayou in Washington, D.C., I am convinced that you are a Paganini. Not only was your playing technically very good, but your improvisational skills within the classical chord progressions are superior to anyone around. The aspect which stuck with me, however, was your timely use of humor. You really are a funny guy and you put the crowd at ease with your antics. --Matt B., Ellicott City, MD, USA I was there to see you, Yngwie, in Milan for Fire & Ice. It was the most exciting concert of my life! My favorite song is "Far Beyond the Sun" and when you began to play it, I cried. You said "Ferrari" and "Vi amo" (I love you). Yes, you love Italy, and Italy loves you. Please come back soon and burn your guitar again. I wanted also to say GREAT to the rest of the band! --Sofia V., Faenza, Italy I saw Yngwie in Toulouse, April 13, 1992. What a great person! WOW! He's got his own style, a unique personality, and still THE BEST! During this show, he was fabulous. My friend and I were happy, when after the stage show Yngwie's black bus made a light signal for us: a great final curtain! --Fabien J., Arreau, France I saw Yngwie at his first gig in Japan (Saitama), and his last one at Budokan (March 14, Tokyo). At Saitama, he said "Thank you" a hundred times to the Japanese kids--we celebrated his chart-winning Number One album, "Fire & Ice". I never saw such a big smile on Yngwie, he just looked like sailing in the sky and I became happy with him. At Budokan Yngwie's guitar performance was perfect. --Yoko M., Hyogo, Japan What can I say? Yngwie and all the guys were all amazing. [April 16, Hammersmith Odeon, London] Tell Yngwie that what the British press says about him is not what the fans feel, we love him. His soloing made even the most timid of people shout and scream. He burned a guitar, which he smashed up and chucked out to the front liners, and there was very nearly a fight as two guys caught bits which were still attached to each other and neither was going to let go until a security guy separated them. Then Yngwie did the encore wearing a white tailed dinner jacket! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. My message to him is COME BACK SOON! --Lesley L., Norwich, England In Zurich, when I heard The Four Seasons of Vivaldi playing before the show, I could feel Yngwie's presence. People were shouting "Yngwie! Yngwie!" and when the lights came on, there he was before me! He burned a guitar in Zurich, but not in Paris. In Paris, he spoke some French phrases with such a pretty accent. He was so charming! Yngwie's acoustic solos were so great, how could he be so good? He's so powerful onstage, people got really excited when he came near the edge of the stage. The show was about 2 hours long. Thanks a lot for this marvelous concert, Yngwie! --Carole B., Forel-Lavaux, Switzerland This show [Denver, Colorado, 1992] was everything I had hoped for and the music was fantastic! I never realized how expressive Yngwie's eyebrows could be, or how he weaves magic symbols in the air with his right hand while producing incredible music with his left! He opened with "Making Love" and played a lot of Bach, making his guitar sound like a church organ--especially in a duet with Mats where they played Bach's "Badinerie" from "No Mercy." One of the high points was a great tune with a reggae beat that I failed to recognize from any recording. The music was hot, the improvisation rampant and the delivery masterful, each song vastly different from the recorded version (a real treat in our MTV world)! --Susanne Z., Golden, CO, USA |
